Veniero’s

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Just around the corner from the apartment is a fun little pastry place named Veniero’s. They have more pastry than they know what to do with, and I have enjoyed every treat so far. Emily loves to get the Windmill cake; which is triple chocolate. She has always gotten this to-go, but last night we ate there. Little did she know that a full size piece of cake would be heading her way. It was huge!

Fortunately I got to eat what she didn’t want :)

Here is a picture of one display case:

Baldi meets a French Bulldog

Monday, September 8th, 2008

You may or may not know that I love French Bulldogs. They are also known as Frenchies, but they are certainly silly looking little guys. They seem to love play more than their bigger cousin, the English Bulldog. Unfortunately these cute little guys often suffer from a number of inherited issues due to their selective breeding. For that reason I don’t condone breeding this dog, but I still love them anyway.

The black lab in the photo is Baldi, who belongs to David(my roommate). Baldi is 2 or 3 years old, and is a mix between Lab and Chow.

Pinball update

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Last night Emily and I met up with Matt (my cuz!). We just had to have another shot at Pirates of the Caribbean Pinball. I was still struggling but I did manage to have one decent game, just over 15 million. Then Matt played and he crushed us all. These pics tell the whole story.

Pirates of the Caribbean Pinball

Saturday, September 6th, 2008

So Emily and I are both Pinball wizards. Well, I’m not that great but Emily rocks the sure shot.

We love to play Pirates of the Caribbean Pinball! It is so fun… Just like any other pinball you have flippers and you try knock the ball into as much as possible. But with PoCP you can sink the ship then fight the Kracken.

So we went to our favorite pinball establishment (Hi-Fi on A between 10th and 11), and I happily put in $2 to get 5 credits. The first game was so-so, but from then on we couldn’t get anything even remotely good. Normally we score over 10 million, but I am ashamed to say our best score! It was pitiful. It was so bad that I reached into my bag and got another $2 for 5 more games. The next 5 games were even worse.

This picture sums it up.

Pizza in the Big Apple

Friday, September 5th, 2008

New York has long been famous for its pizza, and you can go to a small town without seeing a “new york” style pizza place. What the heck does that mean? In my half a year or so that I’ve been in Manhattan I have sampled a bunch of different pizza. Some good, some ok, but so far nothing horrible. Only one was great(And that wasn’t really even ‘new york’ style).

So this great pizza is in Brooklyn, almost right under the Brooklyn Bridge. Grimaldis pizza in Brooklyn is the best pizza I have ever had. Ironically the style is not the thin crust, sweet cheese style that everyone associates with New York pizza.
